TAD Change to Tahir Academy schedule in Sept/Oct

Assalam o Alaikum Dear Parents,

Hope you are all doing well by the grace of Allah. I wanted to share three things.
First, since we will all be busy with Hazoor e Anwar’s trip in October, we are cancelling the Tahir Academy on October 28, 2019 and instead adding an extra class on Sept 30th (5th Sunday in September). Please mark you calendars and make sure your kids are aware of this change as well.
Second, you should have received an email recently identifying your child’s homeroom teachers. Please make sure you reach out to the homeroom teachers for any questions regarding homework and/or what is covered in the class.
Third, please take some time and periodically reinforce the behavior expectations and mosque etiquette to your kids.
Jazakallah for your cooperation and as always, please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

TAD Jazakallah and administrative annoucements

Dear Parents,

Assalam O Alaikum,

First of all Jazakallah to all the kids and parents for making the peanut butter drive successful. See attached picture.

Also, wanted to share a few administrative announcements.

1. In the past we have been very good with check-in times but over time it feels like we are getting a little lax. Today we had more than 10 kids checking in after 11:00 pm. Please make sure you kids are at the masjid at 10:45, it can take up 10 mins to check-in so please plan accordingly.

2. To discourage physical contact and subsequent fights and wrestling matches, we are instituting a strict “no physical contact policy” during Tahir Academy hours. We recognize that kids need to burn their energy and we are working on getting the playground for them, but meanwhile we need your cooperation. Please take a few minutes to talk to your kids and help them understand the significance of respecting and behaving in the mosque. We may contact the parents if the any child is repeatedly found in violation of this policy.

3. All kids (except for Level 1) should have their HW folders and workbooks with them. If you kids does not, please contact me or Asim Ahmed and we should be able to get them to you. As I mentioned in the back to school night, kids will be responsible to keep their workbooks and HW folders with them throughout Tahir Academy. Teachers will collect HWs during classes and you need to make sure your kid has the HW folder and workbook before they check out.

4. Lastly, if you have the white binder from last year, please bring it to the next Tahir Academy, those will be converted into the HW folders for this year.

Jazakallah for your cooperation.

TAD Back to school night presentation and peanut butter drive

Dear Parents

Assalam O Alaikum,

Alhamdiulillah we started our 5th consecutive year of Tahir Academy on August 26th and we are off to a great start. This year we have 66 children enrolled in Tahir Academy across 7 classes. As some of you could not attend the back to school night on August 25, I am attaching the presentation we went through on that day. It has details about the policies, administration and logistics details for academic year 2018-2019, please take a few minutes to go through it. It also had results from the parent feedback survey we did back in April and the changes we made as a result of the feedback.

Also, I asked the kids on the first day that in lieu of the homework, they need to bring peanut butter jars to the next Tahir Academy (Sept 9). We are participating in the Plano Mayor’s Peanut Butter Drive to feed the hungry children in Collin County. You may be surprised to know that there are 44,000 hungry children in our own backyard (Collin County). Please help your kid participate in this noble cause by bringing as many peanut butter jars as they can. We will also record a short video asking kids why they are donating Peanut Butter. To make it more fun, we are turning this into a competition. The class that brings the most Peanut Butter will get one extra CREST buck for every member of the class, and off course the bragging rights!

Lastly, we are in the process of planning for a fall field trip, would love to get your ideas. Please email me your ideas at principal.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

TAD Fwd: Tahir Academy “Back to school night” Saturday Aug 25 @ 7:00 pm

Dear Parents,

Assalam O Alaikum,

This is just a reminder that we will inshllah have the back to school night for Tahir Academy on Saturday August 25, starting at 7:00 pm on Saturday and our first session for this academic year on Sunday August 26, at 11:00 am.

The back to school night would be a great opportunity to hear about some of the new policy and administrative changes for the upcoming year and provide any feedback/suggestions on improving Tahir Academy. Many of the teachers will also be available to talk to parents and answer any questions. We will have light refreshments after the event.

Lastly, as you all know we have moved to standardized workbooks this year, we will be distributing these workbooks tomorrow as well. If you have not paid for the workbook, please bring $10 for each workbook and collect your child’s workbook.

I would also humbly request to remember the teachers and staff of Tahir Academy in your prayers who work really hard throughout the year and sacrifice their time to volunteer.

As always please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or suggestions.

TAD Finalizing date/time for field trip

Dear Parents Assalam O Alaikum,

We are happy to announce the location for the annual field trip for Tahir Academy Dallas.

1450 North Watters Road, Allen, TX 75013, USA

As announced earlier, we were planning to host our annual field trip on May 12. Since there is a Jammat event planned that evening, we will need to do our field trip during the day i.e. 12-1:30 on May 12.

We realize that some kids may have sports or other activities planned on Saturday during the day, so we are adding another potential date and time, evening of May 19 (6:30-8:00 pm). The only caveat is that the second date will be during Ramadan right before iftar.
Please click on this link and share your (and your kids) availability for both dates by May 3 at the latest. Also, please vote once per family.

Parent are welcome, in fact, encouraged to join their kids for this temple visit.
